• The Herpes zoster vaccine contains a recombinant (genetically engineered) varicella-zoster virus (VZV) that has been adjuvanted with an immune-stimulating molecule called AS03. It stimulates the production of antibodies that protect against VZV infection and its complications, such as shingles.
