Mechanism Of Action Of Carbocysteine

  • Carbocysteine is a mucolytic that works by making phlegm (mucus) less sticky. This makes it easier for you to cough up.

 

Therapeutic Indications Of Rhinathiol Infants Syrup

  • It is used for problems in the airways when there is too much mucus or when it is too sticky

 

Method Of Administration Of Rhinathiol Infants Syrup

  • Take as indicated by your doctor.
  • Carbocysteine 20 mg/mL is indicated for children aged 2 years and older.
  • Children 2-5 years: the usual recommended dose is 100 mg 2-3 times daily.
  • Children 6-11 years: the usual recommended dose is 100-250 mg 3 times daily.
  • Children 12-15 years: 100-750 mg 3 times daily.
  • Children 16 years and older: adult dosing.
  • Adults: The usual recommended dose is 750 mg (15 mL) 3 times daily.
  • Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
  • If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
  • If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
  • Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

 

Undesirable Side Effects Of Rhinathiol Infants Syrup

  • Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
  1. nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
  2. Hypersensitivity reactions

 

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Precautions While Taking Rhinathiol Infants Syrup

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • Your doctor will discuss the possible risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breast-feeding

 

Non-Pharmacological Treatments & Advice To Reduce Cough Severity

  • Stay hydrated: Drink lots of water to thin mucus.
  • Inhale steam: Take a hot shower, or boil water and pour it into a bowl, face the bowl (stay at least 1 foot away), place a towel over the back of your head to form a tent, and inhale.
  • Use a humidifier, for example, Vicks Air Humidifier, to loosen mucus
  • Have a little honey before bed. Studies show that sweet stuff can help ease a cough. Don’t give honey to children under 12 months. Manuka Honey is a powerful weapon in fighting coughs and sore throats
  • Avoid inhaled irritants such as dust, perfumes, or pollutants. Wear face mask to reduce the exposure to the allergen
  • Sometimes smoke irritates your airways and causes inflammation that turns into bronchitis. Stopping smoking will help you to get rid of your cough.

  • Before you use this medicine talk to your doctor or pharmacist:
  1. If you suffer from bronchial asthma
  2. If you have or have had a peptic ulcer
  3. If you suffer from Hepatic disease
  4. If you suffer from Hepatic disease
  5. If you suffer from Renal impairment
  6. If you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medications including over-the-counter non-prescription medicines, prescription medicines, herbal supplements, vitamins, and supplements.

 

Storage Conditions Of Rhinathiol Infants Syrup
