Mechanism Of Action Of Fluorometholone Eye Drops
- Fluorometholone is a corticosteroid used for the relief of inflammation located in the eye.
Therapeutic Indications Of Optilone Eye Drops
- It reduces the irritation, burning, redness, and swelling of eye inflammation caused by chemicals, heat, radiation, allergy, or foreign objects in the eye.
Method Of Administration Of Optilone Eye Drops
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- The recommended dose is 1 or 2 drops into the affected eye(s) 2 to 4 times a day
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
Undesirable Side Effects Of Optilone Eye Drops
- Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain from:
- Headache
- Mild stinging and/or burning
- Elevation of the pressure in the eye (intraocular pressure)
- Mild irritation
- Redness
- With increased pressure within the eye, a center of the eye becomes cloudy (cataracts)

Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Optilone Eye Drops
- Talk to your doctor before using Fluorometholone Eye Drops if you suffer from, or have in the past suffered from:
- Eye ulcers or have had a disease or treatment to the eye that caused the tissue to become thin
- You have glaucoma or are being treated for raised pressure within the eye
- You have had surgery for cataracts
- Bacterial, viral, or fungal eye infections
Storage Conditions Of Optilone Eye Drops
- Store below 25°c
- Don’t refrigerate
- After opening the drops are safe for the eye for a period of 28 days. After this, using the drops can cause serious damage to the eye as bacteria may have been introduced.
- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Store in the original package to protect from moisture.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
