- Alfacalcidol is a vitamin D analog used for the management of hypocalcemia, secondary hyperparathyroidism, and osteodystrophy in patients with chronic renal failure, as well as some types of rickets and osteomalacia.
Therapeutic Indications Of One-Alpha 0.25 Mcg Capsules
- Changes in bone caused by kidney failure (osteodystrophy).
- Changes to your parathyroid glands. Low levels of calcium in the blood of newborn babies (hypocalcemia).
- Softening and deformity of the bones due to lack of calcium (rickets or osteomalacia).
Method Of Administration Of One-Alpha 0.25 Mcg Capsules
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- The recommended dose:
- Adults and children weighing more than 20 kilograms:
- The usual starting dose is 1 microgram each day.
- People usually take between 1 and 3 micrograms each day.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
