Mechanism Of Action Of Moxifloxacin
- Moxifloxacin is a bactericidal antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone drug class.
- It inhibits DNA replication by inhibiting bacterial DNA topoisomerase and DNA-gyrase which are necessary to separate bacterial DNA, thereby inhibiting cell division.
Therapeutic Indications Of Moxiflox 400 Mg Tablets
- Moxifloxacin should only be used to treat these infections when usual antibiotics cannot be used or have not worked:
- Infection of the sinuses
- Sudden worsening of long term inflammation of the airways
- Infection of the lungs (pneumonia) acquired outside the hospital (except in severe cases)
- Mild to moderate infections of the female upper genital tract
Method Of Administration Of Moxiflox 400 Mg Tablets
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Moxifloxacin tablets are for oral use.
- Swallow the tablet whole (to mask the bitter taste) and with plenty of liquid.
- You can take Moxifloxacin with or without food.
- Try to take the tablet at approximately the same time each day.
- The length of time you will take Moxifloxacin depends on your infection
- The recommended dose for adults is one 400mg film-coated tablet once daily.
- You must complete the course of treatment even if you begin to feel better after a few days.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
