Mechanism Of Action Of Loratadine
- H1 histamine receptor antagonist; competes for H1-receptor sites in target cells in the respiratory tract, blood vessels, and gastrointestinal tract.
- Non-sedative second generation
Therapeutic Indications Of Lorine Fast Melting Tablets
- Loratadine tablets are used to relieve symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and perennial allergic rhinitis.
- Symptoms of these conditions can include sneezing, runny nose, nasal itching, in addition to burning, itching and watering of the eyes.
- Loratadine tablets are also used to relieve symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria (skin rash consisting of hives and wheals).
Method Of Administration Of Lorine Fast Melting Tablets
- Adults (including older people): 10 mg once daily (one tablet once daily)
- Children over 12 years of age: 10 mg once daily (one tablet once daily)
- Children aged 2 to 12 years of age:
- Bodyweight over 30 kg: 10 mg once daily (one tablet once daily)
- Bodyweight 30 kg or below: Not recommended
- Children aged less than 2 years of age: Not recommended
- The tablet should be swallowed whole with a drink of water.
- It may be taken with or without food.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Non-Pharmacological Treatments & Advice To Reduce Common Cold
- Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
- Try to breathe moist air. Use a humidifier or take a steamy shower.
- Consume warm fluids (soup or tea) to provide relief for a stuffy nose and to loosen phlegm.
- Eat a well-balanced diet. If you cannot, ensure you are getting enough nutrients by taking a daily multivitamin.
- Avoid dairy products, as they can thicken phlegm.
Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Lorine Fast Melting Tablets
- Do not take the drug if you are allergic to loratadine or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking loratadine if:
- You have severe liver problems
- You are due to have any skin tests for allergies. Do not take loratadine tablets for two days before having these tests. This is because it may affect the test results.
- When taken concomitantly, the following medicines may increase the level of loratadine in blood and increase its side effects:
- Ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infections)
- Erythromycin (an antibiotic)
- Cimetidine (used in the treatment of heartburn)
