Mechanism Of Action Of Xylometazoline
- A sympathomimetic that directly acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors in arterioles of the nasal mucosa to produce vasoconstriction resulting in decreased blood flow.
- Xylometazoline is a decongestant used for reducing nasal congestion caused by allergies or the common cold.
- Xylometazoline causes blood vessels in the nasal passages to shrink (vasoconstrictor).
- Vasoconstriction reduces nasal congestion by preventing fluid from draining from blood vessels into nasal passages.
Therapeutic Indications Of Decozal 0.1 Nasal Drop
- It is for application in the nose to give relief from:
- nasal congestion (blocked nose, including colds)
- perennial and allergic rhinitis (recurring inflammation of the nasal mucous membranes, including hay fever)
- sinusitis
Method Of Administration Of Decozal 0.1 Nasal Drop
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Before you start using this medicine for the first time you must read the instructions about how to use it and follow them carefully. Ask your pharmacist if you are not sure
- Doses will depend on your medical condition
- Average dose: 1 spray/drop into each nostril. Repeat as needed, generally3-4 applications per day are sufficient.
- Not be used more than 5 day
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.
