Mechanism Of Action Of CHLORPHENIRAMIN
- H1 histamine receptor antagonist; competes for H1-receptor sites in target cells in the respiratory tract, blood vessels, and gastrointestinal tract.
- Sedative first generation
Therapeutic Indications Of Allerfin Tablets
- used for the relief of allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy, watery, red eyes and itchy nose and throat.
- It is also being used to treat hives.
Method Of Administration Of Allerfin Tablets
- Tablets need to be swallowed with a full glass of water
- Adults and children of 12 years and over: One Every four to six hours, Don’t take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.
- Children of 6 to 11 years Half a tablet every four to six hours, Don’t give more than 6 half tablets in 24 hours.
- Doses may be changed in special conditions so always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to a doctor or go to the hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember it unless it is nearly time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for the forgotten dose.

Non-Pharmacological Treatments & Advice To Reduce Common Cold
- Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.
- Try to breathe moist air. Use a humidifier or take a steamy shower.
- Consume warm fluids (soup or tea) to provide relief for a stuffy nose and to loosen phlegm.
- Eat a well-balanced diet. If you cannot, ensure you are getting enough nutrients by taking a daily multivitamin.
- Avoid dairy products, as they can thicken phlegm.
Warnings & Special Precautions while Taking Allerfin Tablets
- Do not take the Tablets:
- You are allergic to chlorphenamine maleate, any other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- You are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (for depression) or have taken them within the last 14 days
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before Tablets If:
- You have epilepsy
- You have liver or kidney problems
- You have heart problems, severe high blood pressure
- You have asthma, bronchitis or bronchiectasis or chronic lung problems (difficulty in breathing and cough that won’t go away)
- You have raised pressure in your eye (glaucoma)
- You are a man with prostate problems
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any
- other medicines, particularly any of the following:
- Other antihistamines, including those in cough and cold medicines, that make you sleepy
- Sleeping tablets, medicines for anxiety, antidepressants
- Phenytoin (for epilepsy)

- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box/blisters/label. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
